Kyle and Lilian's Wedding at Harmony Ridge Lodge

Kyle and Lilian's wedding at Harmony Ridge Lodge in Nevada City was beautiful. They originally planned a large celebration in Los Angeles, but had to adapt their plans due to the earlier pandemic, and decided on a more intimate affair with around 27 close guests.

The venue, Harmony Ridge, is one of my favorite locations in Nevada County. Its a beautiful garden-designed property featuring a newly built hall for indoor receptions and also offers eight guest rooms. The property provides various options for different wedding moments, from a spacious ceremony site and outdoor areas for cocktails to shaded dinner locations and multiple dance floor choices. It’s a really special venue. Curious? Check them out here - Harmony Ridge Lodge Wedding Venue

The ceremony, filled with elegant and chill vibes, featured pre-ceremony music by artists like Chris Stapleton, Sade, Adele, and Maren Morris. The wedding party processional song was "Stolen" by The Dashboard Confessionals, and Lilian's entrance was accompanied by Daniel Jang's cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love." A special moment included a tree planting ceremony, and the recessional song was "Best Day Of My Life" by the American Authors.

During the cocktail hour on the back deck and lawn, the playlist drew inspiration from Prince, Elton John, Jon Pardi, Jim Croce, and Al Green. Kyle and Lilian's formal entrance song was by "Bring 'Em Out" by T.I. (a classic decision)

Moving to the Grand Hall for dinner, the playlist took on a sophisticated jazz vibe with selections from Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, and Thelonious Monk. Formal song choices included a first dance to "Space and Time" by S.G. Goodman (Amazing song. Please check it out), cake cutting to "I Can't Help Myself" by the Four Tops, and the first slow song o the evening to "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis. This is a perfect tie-in to Lilian's ceremony entrance song.

The dance party, starting at 7:04 and ending at 10:00 pm, way exceeded expectations with a small guest count. Guests enjoyed a diverse mix of music, including unconventional requests like Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet, and Paramore. Lilian's request for Mexican music featuring Bad Bunny, Camila Cabello, Pitbull, Don Omar, Grupo G, and Selena, added a unique touch.

Notable moments included guests singing along to less mainstream songs like Paramore's "Misery Business," the Cure's "Just Like Heaven," and Depeche Mode's "Precious" and "Never Let Me Down." A stand-out request came from Kyle, who asked for Ginuwine's "Pony," leading to a seamless transition to Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus.” Special Note - My wife has Ginuwine’s “Pony” album framed on her office wall.

The evening culminated perfectly with Lilian's choice for the last song, Rihanna's "We Found Love," rounding out the celebration at 128 BPMs.

Much love to Kyle, Lilian, and all their guests. I had a great time playing some less common songs and really enjoyed the vibe of all their guests. This one was special.
